Scholarship Information 2007

The MSRC will be awarding ten $1,000 scholarships in 2007.  Students from the Respiratory Therapy related programs in Massachusetts will be eligible to apply.  Awards will first be made to qualified candidates from each Respiratory Therapy school. Remaining scholarships will be awarded by the committee to the best of all applicants.

If there are less than ten eligible candidates in a given year, non-awarded money will be saved in our scholarship account.  

 

Awards will be presented at the MSRC Annual Meeting on Sept. 26 & 27 , 2007.  Deadlines for all applications will be August 10, 2007.  Please note that no one will be awarded a scholarship in the same category more than two consecutive years.

Applications will not be considered unless all criteria are met. Quality of the presentation of the application materials counts. Per these criteria, the envelope that the applicant sends to the MSRC Scholarship Committee must include all of the following:

    1. School transcript (or letter of acceptance if new student). Your date enrolled and expected date of graduation must be provided.
    2. Proof of student membership in AARC/MSRC (Must provide a copy of AARC membership card)
    3. Proof of community service (preferably respiratory care related). 
    4. Recommendation from Program Director. This letter will describe the applicant’s professional potential, academic ability, and professional commitment.
    5. Applicant’s essay (two double spaced pages) including
      1. Applicant’s name, address, phone and e-mail
      2. Applicant’s professional goals
      3. How applicant’s degree will further the profession of Respiratory Care

 

The Scholarship Committee shall include*;

  1. MSRC Medical Director
  2. Scholarship Committee Chairman
  3. Chairman.s designee
  4. MSRC President-Elect
  5. MSRC Treasurer

* Should the President determine that there is a conflict-of-interest, he or she will appoint an alternate to the decision making committee.

 


Responsibilities Related to Scholarships

  1.  The MSRC Scholarship Committee will be responsible for:
  2.  The Chairperson will be responsible for informing the treasurer of the names of scholarship winners and the award amounts.  
  3. MSRC Treasurer will be responsible for dispersing funds.
  4. The President will be responsible for making the awards at MSRC Annual Meeting.
