Standardized Clinical Assessment and Management Plans (SCAMP®) are quality improvement tools which aim to reduce practice variation, improve patient outcomes, and decreased unnecessary resource utilization. The Critical Asthma SCAMP is an iterative algorithm driven by an asthma severity score, which empowers bedside providers (respiratory therapists and nurses) to escalate and wean therapy. Implementation of the Critical Asthma SCAMP in our PICU was associated with more rapid spacing of albuterol therapy and decreased hospital length of stay.
